Chad Bjorgan has been playing percussion since the age of twelve. His teaching experience began in his grade twelve year when he was asked to write, arrange and instruct the drum line for Palm Springs high school, where he attended in 1991. It was during those high school years he learned the rudiments of percussion and drumming, and was offered various scholarships and awards, including the “Louie Armstrong Jazz Award”, and the Silver Sands music award for most outstanding musician.
Shortly after high school Chad began playing at the local lounges and expanded his versatility and repertoire as a drummer. He worked with several prominent musicians in the Palm Springs area, including Pat Rizzo (Frank Sinatra), Gilbert Hansen (Pointer Sisters), Andy Fraga Sr., Paul Shaffer (not the Saturday Night Live Paul Shaffer), to name a few. At this time he also joined several trios in the area playing various styles including Reggae with a group named Equal Opportunity for two years. Eventually Chad’s teaching expanded to include not only Palm Springs High School, but also Cathedral City High School.
In 1995 Chad moved to Canada and continued teaching, recording and playing live. He taught out of his home in Mission, BC, as well as acting as an instructor with Golden Ears music in Maple Ridge. Chad taught approximately 20 students during this time ranging in all ages and skill levels.
Currently Chad is teaching at Pacific Life Bible College, Richmond House of Music and out of his home in Vancouver, British Columbia. Chad is presently playing with the following bands:
